Blue Ridge

The client wanted to update the front yard of this classic Cape Cod-style home and improve access to the entry. Preserving the stately old Japanese maple(Acer palmatum) was a given, and a more gracious approach from the street was created by a new walkway made of brick matched to the original courtyard walls. A low hedge defines the front yard separating it from the public sidewalk while maintaining site lines that welcome visitors to the entry courtyard beyond. The lawn was replaced with plantings that reflect the classic style of the home featuring perennials, blooming shrubs, ground cover, and natural stepping stones leading to the backyard.
